Barcelona is where the work portion of this adventure was taking place, and we knew we had two small windows to sightsee because we had chosen to go to Italy before and after the meetings. We asked friends who have spent a great deal of time there for recommendations and everyone said to see La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.
So we did.
We opted for guided tours again, which not only allowed us to skip the lines but gave us so much more information and insight into Anthony Gaudi, the artist and designer of both attractions.
La Sagrada Familia:
Nothing could have prepared me for the interior of this building. This masterpiece is still under construction and is anticipated to be completed in 2034. The exterior tells the stories of the Bible, including bowls of colorful mosaics that are the “fruits of the spirit.” It was breathtaking.

Park Guell:
This was originally supposed to be a dream living place for sixty wealthy families, but only three ended up purchasing homes up there. It’s now a beautiful park, filled with Gaudi’s brilliance both in engineering but also in artistry. And, the views of Barcelona were incredible.

There is so much more of Barcelona to see, but I’m grateful we experienced these two locations. I hope we can return someday as it was a beautiful city with so much more to offer.
