California is…CRAZY!!

Just when I begin to think that things just can’t get any worse in this liberal state…wow. This is from the Capitol Resource Institute in Sacramento.

Urgent Action Alert – Day of Silence Resolution

On April 20, the Sacramento City Unified School District board is expected to approve a resolution to proclaim April 26, 2006 as a Day of Silence.

The purpose of this Day of Silence is to “recognize the silencing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning people due to discrimination everyday in our society.”

The resolution instructs school districts to notify staff so they can support Day of Silence and develop lesson plans that will allow students observance.

In other words, teachers will be expected to set aside their regularly-scheduled lesson plans and permit an entire school day to be hijacked by political activists with a controversial agenda.

The resolution acknowledges that the whole point of students choosing to be silent for a full day is to “call attention” to the event – attention that would otherwise be focused on learning how to read and do math computations.”

Happy Easter!

This is the batch of bread that I made today (from scratch!) for Easter–as a way of bringing one of my family’s traditions into the meal today. 🙂 It was good!!

PS–have I ever mentioned that I love bread? LOL!

Today was just a GREAT day!

Today was one of those days that I thoroughly enjoyed…

Work was great. My whole team was in such a great/goofy mood, and it made work entertaining. We decided spontaneously to go out to lunch together (10 of us–our whole team minus one) at a Mongolian BBQ place–my first time. It was good! And it was so fun to spend time with my co-workers outside of work. I feel like we had a great “bonding” experience today. 🙂

Tonight is the rehearsal for my church’s Good Friday service. I am singing on the worship team, but I am also doing a solo. I brought a song to the worship team a few weeks ago because it was SO perfect for this service! And, it just happens to need a soloist for two of the three verses, so I am that soloist. 🙂 I love this song! It’s called “Saviour” by Darlene Zschech.

Great day…beautiful weather…today was almost perfect 🙂

Mama Dess…

It was SO great to see Dess yesterday! She is 82 years old, but she seems as young as ever! She can still play the piano SO well, too. What a blessing it is to have her in my life!

The man in the picture is a family friend that I have also known since I was born. Gary and his wife Nancy let me live with them the summer after my senior year in high school while I interned with a lobbyist in Sacramento, and they have always been such an example and a blessing to me.

Yesterday was filled with sadness and joy, but mostly joy. We know that Papa Dave is with Jesus, and we know that we will see him again someday! It was also a joy to see so many loved ones that have been so faithful through the years.

A Glimpse of My Weekend…

I flew to the Bay Area Saturday afternoon/early evening, and spent approximately 26 hours there. The main purpose of the visit was a memorial service for a dear family friend, who was known as Papa Dave by me…but we also took the opportunity to visit our favorite spots around the area, including Fisherman’s Wharf (Pier 39) to get Boudin’s sourdough bread, which is the BEST in the world! 🙂

Here are a couple of pictures from the trip…more to come when I’m not tired!
