Category: Life as we know it

By the way…

If you haven’t checked out Google Earth, I would highly recommend it. We were playing around with it last night at my friend Steven’s house, and he showed us how he had located where we stayed in Tunis! He even found this cafe that was near the guys’ place…it’s so amazing and so clear!

Google is just amazing! 🙂

I’m Back…

Well, blogging has been fairly infrequent as of late, and I think that needs to change. 🙂

I still love my job, and it is still going very well. On April 17th I will be a permanent employee there, meaning that the raise kicks in as well as the benefits. And, I get the official security badge with my picture on it 🙂 Yay!

We had a “Team Tunisia” reunion last night, and we went to eat at a Middle Eastern restaurant here in Glendora–it was really good! Brought back many memories of our adventure overseas which took place nearly a year ago. Good food, great fellowship.

I am flying to the Bay Area today for a memorial service tomorrow…tonight my family and I will be dining at Black Angus–my favorite restaurant! 🙂

There’s so much more I could say, but it will have to wait. Much to get done before I leave!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap…

I really had a great weekend! Saturday started later than usual–9am. I just didn’t want to get out of bed (though I woke up at my usual wake-up time of 5:30am)! Saturday evening I attended my first “Bunco Party” with the young adults group from my church. It was actually really fun! I had never even heard of Bunco prior to this event, but it was fun and I’d do it again.

Today I had church, which was good, and I spent time with several different friends today. It is so good sometimes to just discuss life with people, hearing what they are going through, getting wise advice, etc.

I actually didn’t watch the NASCAR race today because I was spending time with friends. My driver didn’t have a good day, though, and was caught in a wreck, which left him way down in 27th place. Sigh…it’s still early in the season, and he’s still 10th in points–so he can still win the championship!

I’ve been thinking a lot about dating lately…and through a book that was given to me on my birthday (by Matt), I’m beginning to change my perspective on a few things. I am excited to see what the future brings!

This week will be great–I’m hoping to make some real progress at work this week. My friend and Tunisia teammate, Matt, is coming down for a few days, and I am SO looking forward to that! He is such a great friend, and I can’t wait to hang out.

Life is so good right now!

Fishing Trip #1 of 2006

Today was great! We drove 2 hours to Palomar Mountain State Park and fished in Doane Pond. I caught 4, but released 2. Mindi kept one of hers, which is why I am holding 3 in the picture.

A really nice gentleman saw me struggling with casting, so he took the time to teach me how to do it, and I was able to finally cast successfully! This was, after all, my first time fishing in a place where I actually had to cast. The last time was in a boat, and that requires a different kind of casting (where you don’t hurt the other people in the boat!).

Great day, great fellowship. 🙂 I love fishing! Posted by Picasa

Rusty and I with our fish…he was so nice tonight and cleaned the three fish that we kept–I just can’t handle it yet. It’s so gross! 🙂 But, I will have to learn eventually. Posted by Picasa

Weekend…

It’s been a long, but great, week…and I’m so looking forward to this weekend!

Last night I cooked dinner for 7 of my friends, and it was such a great evening. Friends are such a blessing! Also, I was able to see my friend Evan from high school–she happened to be in SoCal, so she stopped by for about an hour. It was so good to catch up with her!

Work is still good, but it was a tough week mentally. They say that it will be tough for 6 months to a year, because there is SO much to learn. I love this job!!

For those who don’t know, I dropped my Arabic class. I will restart it once I’m more accustomed to working full-time, etc. I felt it was in my best interest (especially health wise) to just let it go for now.

So, instead of Arabic tomorrow, Mindi, Rusty and I are going FISHING! 🙂 I can’t wait! I haven’t been able to use my new pole yet, and it needs to be used.

NASCAR on Sunday, of course. This week is the Bristol race, which is one of the best and most exciting races of the season.

It’s been a great week, and I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend!
