Suzy…

I know I’ve posted about this quite a bit in the past three years, so I won’t say much this time. Tomorrow is the third “anniversary” of Suzy’s death, and though I’ve grieved and dealt with it, nevertheless it makes me feel sad. I will still wear the red polka-dotted ribbon that was given at her memorial service tomorrow, because it just feels right.

I wrote this one year after the tragedy, if you want to read it.

I just ask that you pray for her family, as this will no doubt be another rough day. Pray also that their mission to hold people accountable for their actions on the Internet is successful. Thanks to Oprah, millions of people were able to hear about this horrible tragedy, and they were made aware of the groups that are out on the Internet, seeking their prey. Pray that they have an impact with this message!

I can’t believe it’s been three years…I’m so glad that I have 10 or so years of memories upon which to reflect. She was wonderful! 🙂

24…

For those of you who are avid “24” fans (as I am), wasn’t tonight incredible?! Especially the last 30 seconds or so…I really hope what they suspect isn’t true! I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it, so that’s all I’m going to say.

Speaking of 24, I had the 24th person in 1.5 years tell me today that I look like Lindsay Lohan. I still don’t know if that’s a good thing, and I really don’t see it, but apparently that’s what people think!

Life is good…but it’s bed time–early rise tomorrow! 🙂

Great Weekend…

It’s been such a fantastic weekend! Friday night was the St. Patrick’s Day party with SO many of my friends that I haven’t seen in months. Tonight we went to BJ’s and then back to Ananda’s to watch a movie. This weekend has made me realize just how much I truly miss one aspect of college–living nearby all your friends…only doors away…it’s something that I will never have again, and I’m so glad that I had the chance to experience it for four years! I have been blessed with some of the greatest friends, and though much has changed since graduation, it still feels so right, so natural to hang out with them.

In other news, I picked up my recliner today! It fits nicely in my room, in the corner with the two windows. Now I have a cozy place to read, watch tv, etc…and it is great.

More to come…and maybe some pictures from the party…

Three Days…

…until a great evening with friends! St. Patrick’s Day party at Ananda and Sara’s, with many out-of-town guests that we haven’t seen in AGES! 🙂 I’m getting excited. I’m also ditching Arabic Saturday morning so that I can stay up later on Friday. Good times!

Wow…

This season of 24 gets more intense each episode! Tonight was incredible–but really sad at the same time. Only 3 characters have remained all 5 seasons! We are now 13 episodes in, and I can’t wait for the rest!

NASCAR Update…

Note the changes in the sidebar. Casey had a good race today–went from 30-something to 9th. Great race! 🙂

Also, I was told on Friday that I have officially been hired as a permanent employee of ADP! 🙂 It will be effective April 17th, and comes with quite the raise. I am SO happy!

PS–is it weird that I’m actually really excited to go to work? 🙂

Life…

…is good…busy…exciting…exhausting…:)

On Monday I got my own desk/work area–and I started decorating it on Tuesday. I need a plant, though, because the desk space is huge and feels so empty. Right now, I just have some magnets and postcards up, and I have a vase on my desk. 🙂 I also got my phone today, with my own personal extension! LOL–I know, I know, this may not seem like a big deal, but it really is exciting! I have a feeling that I’m going to be here for a few years, and that isn’t a dreadful thought. I actually really like working at ADP–more each day. 🙂

Still need to do my Arabic homework for the week…but, getting up at 5:30am for work makes me tired by about 7:30pm, and I just want to go to bed (I stay up until 10, though, for whatever reason).

And that’s pretty much my life right now. I’m busy, I’m tired, but more than anything I am content. I know that I am right where the Lord wants me to be at this moment, and that’s all I need to know. 🙂

Sad News…

I just got word that a dear family friend of ours (affectionately known as “Papa Dave” by my brother and I) has passed away. He went to the hospital yesterday, and was getting better as of this morning. He passed away at 5:20pm…so sudden!!

Because he and his wife (Mama Dess) have lived in Texas for years now, I didn’t get to see them as much as I would have liked. I do have very early memories of them–I stayed with them when my mom went to the hospital to have my brother…and I remember reading to them, and not understanding why I couldn’t see my parents. 🙂

I saw him a few years ago, when they were visiting family in the Bay Area…and he was still so funny, so full of life. He always would send the funniest emails to us, and I looked forward to his emails.

This is one of the last emails he sent me (just to show you his personality):

hi again pretty lady,
yep! guess you are a lady now. although they taught me that you only use “lady” when there is a question of character.
we are doing ok. but, we will get over that too.
you know that we are ancient now. she is 82 and i am 81. we just finished 59 years of marriage bliss. i keep telling her this marriage is not going to last. oh well. we are really not doing to badly for the shape we are in.
we are blessed and get more blessings every day. He is so good.
keep in touch.
papa dave and mama dess. that’s d n d.

He lived a great life, and he loved the Lord with all his heart. I know he is with Jesus now, and that is of great comfort.

I’ll miss you, Papa Dave!

Some Random Things…

Sometimes I love the Disney Channel. Tonight, I decided to watch their new movie “High School Musical”–because I was in three during high school (Bye Bye Birdie, Brigadoon, Sound of Music). It was actually a good movie! Brought back lots of fond memories from my days in musicals.

A while ago, I posted a link to this interesting personality profile thing , a Johari Window, that many people had posted on their own blogs. The top four words that people picked for me were: Independent, Loving, Reflective, Religious. I’d say those fit! If you haven’t added your own thoughts, there’s still time! And, I’d encourage you to post your own “Johari Window” on your blog, just to see what people see in you. It’s interesting!

I was really encouraged today at work by the lady who is training us all for our jobs. She told me that I am going to do an “awesome job” and that I should not be worried at all. This came after a frustrating morning, when I felt like all the material was completely foreign to me. That was SO encouraging!

Life is good… 🙂

New Addition to Sidebar…

I am a firm believer that blogs should be a reflection of their author.

Therefore, I have made an addition to my sidebar that I know will forever brand me as a true “redneck”–because, really, that’s what I am. (See, Mindi–I’m not in denial anymore!)

Since I know that all of my readers care as much about NASCAR as I do (LOL, yeah right), I have decided to keep you updated on my driver’s points position and his most recent race finish position. It’s just a little way to add my personality to the blog. 🙂

I have always been a NASCAR fan (as well as many other types of racing), and I am really excited about this season! Casey is doing so well!
