This is sickening…absolutely horrible! Read this article about the “new vows” people are choosing to make in their marriage ceremony…so sad!

Youth Rally
Okay, so here’s what I know about the rally for those who are curious.
It is this Saturday, July 23rd. I believe it is in Sutter. I’d call someone like Duane for more info–but you’ll have to get his number from someone else. I’m not going to post it on here. 🙂
Also, I don’t know about August or September–I think the plan was to have one every month, but I’m not sure.
Hope that helps you guys who are curious!
Update on Life…
Well, life is good. Life is busy as always, but good. 🙂
Job search: Sent one resume today to a lobbying firm in Harrisburg, PA. Good prospects there. Emailed contacts in D.C. at Newt’s office, maintaining the contact which could prove to be invaluable someday. A bit discouraged upon reading some job descriptions for secretarial positions that want 18 months of grad school, but I know that God has the perfect job for me already planned, and I just have to keep following Him.
Church job: Busy as ever. VBS is next week–still need 2 teachers! Youth group tonight–praying that I’ll have some kids. Next week we’re going to a minor league baseball game as our event, so that will be fun. I feel like I’m working ALL the time!
Friends: I’m discovering more and more just how much my “Monday night” friends mean to me…they are so wonderful! They are always challenging me, encouraging me, supporting me…and I love them all. My “roommate” last week is especially wonderful–she always makes life enjoyable and I miss having her around all the time.
APU friends–2 weddings down, 2 to go. Other friends–3 more weddings to go. Everyone seems to be transititioning well from college life to the “real world”. I love all my friends! The Lord has SO richly blessed me!
Family: I mentioned them in the last post–things are going well. My grandparents are heading down here next week with two of my NorCal youth to work in VBS. They are so awesome!
To my NorCal Youth: I am SO sorry that I can’t come to the rally this weekend! I had fully intended to, but now that I am VBS director I have to decorate that day…I will see you all in August, Lord Willing, when you come to SoCal! 🙂
That’s about it. Life is crazy busy, but worth every moment!
Dark Chocolate is Healthy!
Yes!! I just came across this article about dark chocolate possibly lowering blood pressure and cholesterol…it’s already my favorite, and now it is kinda healthy!
Also, Newt’s new book (third in the trilogy about the Civil War) is out! I have the first two, and they are fantastic. I’d encourage you to read this one as well!
Summer Heat…
Wow…I really have no room to complain about the heat! I don’t think anyone does unless it is above 110 degrees–like it has been in my hometown.
When my parents got home Sunday from our reunion, it was 112 degrees at 5pm (and the power went out, making it unbearable). It isn’t going to be below 105 degrees for the next 10 days.
The forecast for Glendora? 90 degrees as the high for the next 10 days. Maybe there is something good about SoCal afterall! 🙂
Family Reunions…
I love my family!
I just got back from a family reunion near Yosemite–it’s our 43rd annual reunion, I believe. Most people complain about family reunions, or they don’t even have them. Our family LOVES them, and we enjoy each other’s company so much!
In two years, I am the host of the reunion, and I’m thinking about taking us back to the Oregon Coast. We always have a great time there–and it’s much cooler than where we were this weekend (105 degrees on average).
So, I’m back, and life is as crazy as ever! More later…
Polluted Babies…
Wow–so apparently America is a bit polluted…check out this story–it’s amazing!
Links to Pictures!
Here are my pictures from Mission Camp… and youth camp… and our drama “Shine…”
Here is a link to HALF of my pictures from Tunisia…
And here are pictures from Todd and Paige’s wedding…
Weddings…
Today I traveled to “lovely” Bakersfield, California, for wedding #2 of the summer. Joe and Aubrey’s wedding was beautiful! I have one more in July, one in August, two in September (though I think I’m only going to one of them), and one in October…
AND one in December now! My Pennsylvania sister Cheyenne is engaged!! I’m so excited for her!
Someday soon, as soon as my Mom sends me the USB cord for my camera, I’ll post some pics from these beautiful weddings I have been attending. 🙂
Something to Ponder…
MONDAY MORNING MEMORANDUM

The Myth Of Global Warming
The story in Genesis reveals the sin of Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were told not to eat the “fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden,” or they “would surely die.” When the serpent was talking to Eve, he said eat the fruit, you won’t die, “you will be like God.” She and Adam ate, wanting to be like God, and then they figured out they had made a huge mistake, and in the spirit of a true husband, Adam told God that Eve made him do it. (Actually, blaming the wife wasn’t the sin, although most women can relate to that problem). The first sin was the desire to be like God.
The problem with most of the environmentalists is that they suffer from that sin. They think that mankind is God, and can actually affect the rising of the sun, the coming of the rain, and the direction of the wind. The fact is that nature existed before us, and will exist after us, and the balance of nature is not under our control. It will survive, in balance, no matter what we do.
Interestingly enough, both of the major theories about the origin of the species confirm this fact. If you believe in the biblical story of creation, God says that man will have dominion over “birds … and over all the earth and every creeping thing,” which means these things don’t have dominion over us. God will end things when he is ready, no matter what we do. If you are an evolutionist, you believe that natural selection will cause our demise when something better on the evolutionary scale comes along. Both ways, nature resolves its problems by itself.
Those who believe in global warming think that we can actually make long term permanent changes to the global climate by driving around too much. Once again, no matter what you believe there is actually no evidence to support that claim.
There is evidence that the earth is getting slightly warmer right now—but the earth has been warm before, and then got cold. Think about the dinosaur age and the ensuing ice age. Do you think the T-Rex caused the ice age with its SUVs?
More recently, the warmest time in the last 1000 years was in the 12-14th centuries. People weren’t generating much in the way of greenhouse gasses in that mainly agrarian society—unless you count the methane gas caused by the prevalent bovine indigestion at the time.
In the last century, we got warmer from about 1930 to 1970, cooled off for a while, and we have been warming up slightly since then. By and large, however, these changes have been small, and not caused by human activity, but by the vagaries of nature.
In fact, a warmer globe causes a little more evaporation of water, which, by the way, creates more clouds, which, by the way, cools down the surface of the planet. This is a bit of a simplification of what happens in the weather, but, suffice it to say, nature has a way of fixing things. We are not God, we cannot permanently change things.
So—our environmental friends who claim that government regulations can stop global warming are like the witch doctors who say that their incantations can cause it to rain or stop the wind. Their hocus-pocus is meaningless babble, and their actions are literally spitting into the wind. The problem is when they spit into the wind; it comes back and hits us.
The fact is that the sun will come up tomorrow no matter what the environuts do. The wind will blow, and the rain will come no matter what dance they do. In fact, the globe will warm and cool, no matter how much you drive your SUV. So happy motoring to you.
Thoughts? Comments? It’s definitely interesting!
