Things Change…

It has almost been a year since I “lost” someone who was so dear to me…someone who was truly one of my best-friends…but things change, sometimes quite suddenly. I’ve realized lately just how large the hole that was left really is…but part of me cannot believe that I still haven’t “gotten over it.”

How does one heal? How does one live their life without thinking about that person daily, reminiscing about the wonderful times shared…replaying those last moments you shared together…

I know that our friendship will never be the same again…and that any attempt to reconcile will leave me longing for the friendship we once enjoyed…perhaps that is why it is so hard to just start again. We have both changed so much, and both still harbor bitterness and hurt feelings. Things just take time to heal, and I need to allow that time to pass.

Anyway, just some thoughts that I needed to process through writing…

Wow…

It is Finished…

I turned in my senior thesis today…and it feels so good!

Tomorrow at 11:35am, I will be finished with classes…possibly FOREVER! 🙂

It totally isn’t real to me yet…but I’m sure it will sink in as I walk across the stage, shake President Jon Wallace’s hand and receive the rolled up piece of paper that represents my diploma.

Yesterday’s chapel was amazing, as usual…but one quote has stuck with me:

“If God’s not stressed out about your problems (and He knows what is going to happen), then why are you?” –Francis Chan

Francis Chan always impacts his listeners, and yesterday was no exception. I haven’t been worried about my life post-graduation at all, and this gives me even more incentive to just relax. The Creator of the Universe cares so much about me, and He isn’t going to lead me astray. He knows where I’m going, and that’s all I need to know! 🙂

Tomorrow: Last class, last chapel…

New Link…

Note the newest addition to my link column–Nerstone Pictures.

This is a site made by some of my friends from high school, and you can access their movies from this site. They made some great flicks in high school, and continue to make quality entertainment! Check it out!

This past week the Lord blessed me so richly, and has made me feel so loved, so appreciated–which is so incredibly encouraging. I think we all need to be encouraged frequently, and I love it the most when the Lord encourages me through others. This has inspired me to once again encourage all those around me, as I have been quite a slacker this semester in that area. It has also inspired me to finish this semester, and this chapter in my life, strongly and to do my best in all these areas.

I am SO excited about Tunisia. Three weeks away!! I know that the Lord is going to do amazing things in the lives of each team member, and I pray that He will work through us to touch the lives of those in Tunisia with whom we will be working. I pray that we can be supportive of the missionaries there, with whom we will be serving, and that we can be an encouragement to them as they live and serve in Tunisia. I still cannot believe that I’m going…and I still can’t believe that graduation is 11 days away…is it really possible?

So much to think about and reflect upon this week…I pray that I am able to make the most of my time, and spend my time wisely.

iPod!!

Woo hoo! I am now the owner of a 30GB iPod photo! My church surprised me today and gave me one…the worship team went together and got this for me. And I am still blown away. This church has blessed me SO much over the years just by their fellowship, the amazing people, and I am so humbled by this extremely expensive gift….so undeserved, yet so appreciated!

Wow…so much for working on my thesis this afternoon! 🙂

Great time with my parents yesterday…we got quite a bit of stuff packed up, and they took a whole truck load with them. My parents have done so much for me–how can I ever repay them?! It was great to see them, and to introduce them to so many of the people in my life here in SoCal…

Great weekend!

Looking Forward…

Wow–it is so hard to believe that this week is already over…two more weeks until I graduate!

My parents are coming this weekend to visit and to move some of my stuff back home. That will be fun!

As of now, we’re still going to Tunisia (see previous post). I’m not at all worried, and never have been, because I know that God knows what is going on, and I know that if it’s His will for us to go, we’ll be there!

Lots to get done…but a great deal has already been accomplished–my oral defense for my senior thesis was yesterday, and it went well. Now to finish the thesis itself! 🙂 One math quiz next week…then two finals. And I’m done. 🙂

To close, I’ll post part of my favorite passage of scripture–Isaiah 40:25-31. It has run through my mind quite often these days!

“Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his
understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.”
–Isaiah 40:28-29

Almost Done!!

Life is crazy right now…

Tomorrow I present my senior thesis–so that is exciting! I have a lot of work to do tonight, but I feel confident that it will get done, and that my presentation will go well. This is a topic I know very well!

More substantive posts will come once life settles down…

One of my favorite traditions…

Growing up, Sunday afternoons (after church, of course) were dedicated to one thing: family time. That family time was spent eating lunch and watching racing, whether NASCAR or Indy or other types of drag racing…

Fox has a Great article about NASCAR today which points out the great things about NASCAR…

I’m proud to be a NASCAR fan, and I’m so glad that this is a tradition my family holds dear. It is so much more than cars going around an oval track! It’s an American sport, where people come together to cheer on their drivers peacefully, enjoying the company of friends and family.

I love racing!!

[Update: my drivers (Ricky Rudd and Casey Mears) finished 4th and 8th today! Yay!]
