Category: Life as we know it

Alumni…

I am now an alumni of Azusa Pacific University…

Tonight was really special. Great food, great jazz music as we dined…amazing message from our beloved former campus pastor (Chris Brown)…and great times with friends…

Oh yeah, and we got free shirts and free license plate frames…:)

It’s starting to sink in!!

Gold!!

Part of my “responsibility” for my Tunisia team is to bring news updates to our weekly meetings. This week I shared three quick stories:

1–Gold has been discovered in Tunisia!

2–A Tunisian man in the U.S. is being deported for immigration fraud

3–Tunisia’s “freedom of expression” debated at the UN

From today–apparently some of the guests in the Paris hotel fire were from Tunisia…

I’ve found that reading news about Tunisia (though there isn’t much out there) helps me to feel more connected to the country. I can’t wait to go!

Hotel Rwanda…

I only have two things to say about this movie right now.

1–Everyone needs to see this film…

2–Everyone needs to do something after hearing the message of this film to prevent this from ever happening again…

It is not a “liberal” or “conservative” thing to care about the lives of those who are being killed all over the world–it is a HUMAN thing. It is a Christian thing…

I can’t believe that we let things like this happen!

Please see this movie…it came out on DVD today…and my heart is broken for all those who have suffered such terrible things…

Quick Update…

Number of days left at APU: 25

Number of days until Tunisia: 35

Number of papers left to write: 3

Number of tests left to take: 4

Number of projects to finish: 2

Number of Tuesday/Thursday classes to attend: 5

Number of chapels to attend: 8

Believe it or not, these countdowns are helping me to get through these final weeks…as I realize just how close graduation day really is, I am able to work towards the goal!

Life is going well…allergy season is at its worst right now, so that hasn’t been fun…planning a bridal shower for Leslie, which is so fun!

This weekend is our “Girls’ Weekend”–and it promises to be fun and exciting. It’s so sad though, because it is one of our last weekends together before our lives in the real world begin.

I have no idea what I am doing after July, and that is okay. Like our chapel speaker said yesterday, the Lord’s timing is not our own, and we should not expect Him to give us step by step instructions all the time. Sometimes we are to follow our God-given passions and desires and He will guide our every step–whether we know He is doing so or not.

We’re almost done!!

SoCal Adventure

Today, Ananda and I did the touristy things in SoCal, since she still hadn’t been to most of these places. So I took her to Hollywood, Beverly Hills (and Rodeo Drive), Long Beach (where we ate dinner at Ruby’s…yum!!)…we drove Mulholland Drive–the entire road!!– (and got some great pictures of Los Angeles, the Hollywood sign, etc.)…and we had a great time.

It was a beautiful day, very clear…perfect weather…:) Good times!
