Inaugural Ball

Oh, to not be a poor college student!

Found out today through one of my contacts that I can get into a ball for a MUCH reduced price–but still a price that is MUCH too high for my college student budget…not to mention that I’d have to go dress shopping…

Sigh…well, at least I know that I COULD have gone!

Forecast: SNOW!!

Yes, that’s right. While I’m in Pennsylvania (7 days from now!), it’s supposed to SNOW! WOO HOO! I can’t wait! It’s also supposed to snow in D.C. next Tuesday, which isn’t all that great since I’ll be outside for at least 6 hours on Thursday (the temp will be 45 though, so it will be melted).

As long as the roads are clear enough for me to get to Baltimore on Sunday, to fly back to California, then all will be well.

Yay snow!

My LAST First Day of School

Wow…I cannot believe it! Today is the last time I will experience a first day of school!! Woo hoo! Too bad I really don’t want to start school, at all.

To make my attitude towards school even worse, I received an email today from a friend in D.C. that makes me wish school was just over. He told me that a friend of his ran into Newt today, and the friend mentioned me…and Newt said to tell me to send in my resume and call the office, because they are looking for new hires right now!

Dang it!

If they can wait until August…then I will be able to do it!

A friend at work told me to send in my resume anyway, because they might be able to wait to hire me until then.

Hmmm….

116 days…

Oh yeah, and we had termites on our windowsill last night because of the rain. EWWW!! I had a tough time sleeping in my bed because I was afraid that more would come out of the wood. Praise the Lord that the rain has stopped for now!

Another Poem about Logan…

My youth kids in Pennsylvania are so talented. One in particular has always been dear to my heart (as they all are), and he recently wrote a poem that he shared with me tonight. It is so beautiful!

Why take the boy

So innocent and young

Why take the breath from a life

That has not yet begun

His feet were as light

As the joy in his heart

His laughter would end

From the same place it would start

But what had he done

To deserve such a fate

Why should he be punished for a love

So unfailing and great

The one single fault

That he ever had

Was to bring life to the family

Joy to his mom and dad

He can not be gone

He was so few in years

Why should his life be remembered

With our sorrow and tears

It’s not fair that his absence

Should leave such a dark empty space

Why did it have to be Logan

I would have walked in his place

But what we all must remember

With our hearts and spirits so dampened

Is that he is walking and talking

With both his fathers in heaven….

SO EXCITED!!

So, have I mentioned lately that I am SOOOOO excited about my upcoming trip to the East Coast?! I cannot wait to go to Pennsylvania and see all the people I love so dearly! It’s been over a year now since I last saw them, and I just can’t wait.

Yes, I am more excited about PA than I am about D.C…but I’m excited about both.

I talked to my “Pennsylvania Parents” today, just because I am so anxious to see them.

10 days!! 🙂

By the way, it is STILL raining here, and not just raining, but POURING. In the past four days we’ve had more than four times our seasonal average. Amazing.
