I am in the process of creating an online photo album! I have about 30 pictures uploaded as of now, so feel free to look! Yay pictures!

Florida…Again…
This article makes me laugh, simply because of the problems we saw in 2000…
But, it also makes me nervous, because the last thing our country needs to deal with is voter fraud. That is something that happens in Third World countries–NOT the United States!
Florida…
What’s at Stake?
I want to link to this brilliant document, written by one of my political heroes and my former “employer”, Newt Gingrich. He wrote an extensive piece on what is at stake in this election. Good stuff.
Many things truly are at stake in this election…vote wisely.
Rock the Vote…
So, there has been a lot of talk on my campus these days about whether or not APU should have supported MTV’s “Rock the Vote” as it did. Many believe (myself included) that there are MANY other ways to get people interested, rather than supporting a venue such as MTV, whose message does NOT go along with our school’s motto: God First. Also, MTV has recently created a draft card with Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s “signature” on it…ridiculous. They kept bringing up this rumor of the draft, even though there has been no proof that either candidate is thinking about drafting soldiers.
I received this press release today, from the California College Republicans. If you are in the area, I’d encourage you to attend this protest! If I didn’t have to work, I would be there.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
War against Rock the Vote
Young Voters Protest
Lies and Brainwashing of MTV/Rock the Vote
LOS ANGELES, CA – Young voters are outraged that MTV/Rock the Vote is lying to scare young voters into believing there is going to be a draft, so they resolved to take on the media giant. A protest is scheduled in front of MTV Networks at 2600 Colorado Blvd in Santa Monica from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
MTV/Rock the Vote recently posted a fake draft induction card signed by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld that says “this could be you,” even though Rock the Vote characterizes itself as “non partisan.” Furthermore, they posted on their website skewed facts on the draft and a video clip that is clearly meant to incite fear. At the same time, John Kerry continues to use the draft as an issue in his campaign, saying that there is “great potential” one will be reinstated if President Bush is reelected.
This is done despite the fact that the House of Representatives voted against a Democrat-sponsored bill to reinstate the draft by a margin of 402 to 2, and President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld are on record saying that a draft is not only unnecessary but also opposed by the Administration.
“If the draft is opposed by the House, President, Vice President, and Defense Secretary, from where do they expect the draft to come? MTV/Rock the Vote and John Kerry are lying to my generation to scare us into submission, all the while dishonoring our troops by using their service as an instrument of fear,” said State Chairman of the California College Republicans Michael P. Davidson. “We’re going to take a stand, demand honesty, and let them know that it is our future and our vote, not Viacom’s or MTV’s. We won’t let them dodge the facts.”
The protest is on Friday, October 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at MTV Networks at 2600 Colorado Blvd. in Santa Monica. For more information on the California College Republicans, please go to www.collegegop.org.
Busy…
Life is busy…midterms this week and next. Really difficult one on Thursday…Yikes! 🙂
It’s been raining for the past few days–SO awesome! Except for the minor flooding, it is greatly appreciated. Perhaps we won’t have major fires this November, like we have the past two years.
Many options for after graduation are coming my way…contemplating applying for some prestigious programs, even though I may not get in. Who knows–I have 199 days to decide! 🙂
I’m on a political panel next week, with one other Republican and two democrats…that should be interesting for sure! I have to really know my stuff.
More later…when life slows down!
Notes from home…
| Well, being in Northern California has been wonderful so far…
The real reason I came home was for a surprise 70th birthday party we through for my grandmother. She was shocked! My aunts from Idaho and Alaska flew down around the same time I did, and we all rode back to Red Bluff together…then surprised my grandmother! So fun! The party was great–though my cousins and I didn’t stay long because we went to the last half of our high-school’s Homecoming game. My family is awesome, and it has been so great today to spend time with my aunts, my grandparents, my cousins, and my mom. We spent time around Red Bluff today, just walking around to different shops, visiting, etc. My cousin Kristin and I got pillowcases to embroider, and they match. Aw, how cute! 🙂 LOL. I’m farther along with my sewing than she is (even though I accidently bit off part of my needle and ate it…yeah, I’m serious!) Tomorrow my grandma and I are playing mandolins in church, which will be great. So fun to play music with my family! This afternoon was spent going through pictures from my aunts’ and my mom’s childhood–including some of me when I was a baby as well…so great! Anyway, I love Nor Cal. I have yet to study at all, but it’s okay. Family is far more important! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend! |
Thursday Nights in University Park
We here in the University Park apartments at APU are easily amused, to say the least. And on Thursday nights we anxiously await the arrival of 9:15pm. Why, you might ask?
The APU Pool Club.
It is seriously one of the funniest things we have ever seen. At 9:15pm, anywhere from 20-30 guys run into our court, in shorts (some of which are WAY too short!)…they yell “pool club” as they run in, and jump in the pool.
They then proceed to get right out of the pool, and run somewhere else. Rumor has it that they run to an apartment (or dorm), soaking wet, and they get the apartment a little wet. We aren’t really sure of what they do while they are gone for about 20 minutes.
Then, they run back in and jump in the pool and begin their “rituals”…LOL…it’s seriously so funny because they get SO into it. They do various things before getting in a circle and yelling “We pee standing up!” Then they disperse until the next Thursday…
The railings are lined with people who come out to watch them…and it is the highlight of our Thursdays.
I will try to get some pictures next week. Tonight someone was taking pictures, and the guys freaked out–I wonder if they want this to be a “secret society” or something, LOL!!!
Anyway, the APU Pool Club provides my roommates and I with much joy. Can’t wait ’til next week!
Aspirations…
I had forgotten about this site… Wow, that seems so long ago that I had these aspirations! Check it out–it is interesting, to say the least!
George W. Bush is My President!!
I just wanted to say that I am proud to say that George W. Bush is my president–and he did such a great job tonight! SO much passion, so much intensity…he was on fire tonight! And I was SO proud!!
Quick update…
Well, life is good. No complaints from the past two days…none at all. I’ve been feeling better physically, mentally, emotionally, etc., than I have in a really long time. Counseling is going well–in fact, I probably only have to go to a couple more sessions; my counselor today said that I have grown incredibly fast, and have made remarkable progress. 🙂 Praise the Lord! It is only by HIS strength and His mercy that I have come this far so quickly.
I cannot express how different I feel since I have decided to focus on becoming whole and on becoming more focused on God. It is incredible! I am so thankful! I have really dealt with some tough issues in the past few weeks, and have been set free from the restraints they placed upon my heart. Freedom!
This is week three with no dairy–and I have been amazed at how GREAT I’ve felt physically! Now I’ve realized why I have had stomach pains for years…it all goes back to milk. I’ve known that I was lactose intolerant for about two and a half years now, but I didn’t cut out dairy completely. Now I only drink almond milk, and I have developed a taste for soy ice cream–there are some kinds that taste just like real ice cream!
So basically, life is going really well…I can’t complain…:) Phillip Yancey is speaking in chapel tomorrow–and I am more excited about him coming than any other speaker this year!
God is good, all the time…
