Handwriting test…
I saw that Paige had done a handwriting test, so I decided to try it as well. I definitely don’t agree with everything this says, and my comments are in blue. It’s interesting, for sure! Let me know what you think about the accuracy of this test!
Miracles Can Happen…
Many people today don’t believe in miracles for one reason or another. Perhaps it is because the Red Sea has never been parted in front of their eyes…the miracles frequent throughout the Bible have never manifested themselves in a person’s lifetime.
I, myself, believe in the day-to-day miracles…the little things that happen that the Lord absolutely must be doing…
And one of those happened today. It may seem small to others, but to me, it was huge.
My first two years at APU, I had the greatest suitemates/roommates ever–Sara, Leslie, Allison, Jessica. We all got along and were great friends, were crazy together, etc. When I went to Washington, D.C., APU filled my spot in the apartment, and I thought that I would not be able to live with them again.
Well, Jessica is graduating next week, so there is an opening. And last night, Sara, Leslie and Ananda asked me to be their roommate for our last semester together!
That’s not the miracle…though it is incredibly awesome!
The deadline for housing changes was Friday, December 4th–though we didn’t know that because it wasn’t well advertised. So, first thing this morning, I went to the Housing Director, and she was not pleased. “We have deadlines for a reason”, etc. But, finally, she said that if I was able to get the form from my Residence Director (RD), and get all the signatures on the form (9 total), by 10am, she’d process it.
That gave me an hour to get the signatures of my RD, my current RA, my future RA, current and future roommates…all of whom were spread out everywhere, and I didn’t know where to find most of them.
Sounds impossible, right? I thought so, and I told God that if He wanted this to happen, He’d have to do it because there was no way I could do it on my own.
Long story short, God brought all the people into my path (though I did have to run around quite a bit), and I had the paper signed by 9:45am.
And I am still amazed…the Housing Director said “Wow–you pulled off a miracle!” And I replied, “No, God did. I had nothing to do with it.”
So, though it is sad to leave my current roommates, I’ll only be four doors down…totally close enough to still hang out!
And I’ll most definitely be needed in my new apartment, as both Sara and Leslie are having ACL reconstructive surgery this month, and will be “gimps”…it’s my turn to return the favor that they did when they helped me after my arm surgery (and with my paralyzed hand)…
All in all, God is great. I am excited to live with these dear friends of mine once more! Miracles do happen, everyday. We just have to choose to recognize them for what they are.
12 days!!
In one week, I will:
*Know if I’m going to Tunisia next summer
*Be done with 2 of the 4 papers left to write
*Have seen “Ocean’s 12” with my friends
*Will be 5 days away from Christmas vacation!!
I just need to make myself work REALLY hard this weekend (as well as this week)…last night I got almost 1/4 of my International Relations assignment done, then went to play games with my wonderful friends in Apt. 202B. 🙂 Everyone needs a break now and then! 🙂 We played “Life” and “Catch Phrase”…so fun!
The end is in sight…12 days until vacation! Oh, and 27 days until my birthday!!
Until then, much research, much writing to be done…oh the joy!
Electoral College Changes to Come in California?
I read a insider tip today that legislation will soon be introduced in the California legislature to divide the Electoral College votes (55 in CA) by congressional district–not winner takes all.
I came up with this idea before the election!! I’m not writing this to boast, but purely because I am totally excited and amazed that my theory may come to fruition. Granted, it is a Republican bill…and this is a Democratically controlled state…but perhaps the Dems will see the value in doing such a thing.
If this passes, more people in Northern California will vote, because they will realize that their vote TRULY does make a difference. If you look at this map, you’ll see just how much of California votes Republican…yet, because of LA and SF, our votes don’t count, basically.
What great legislation!! Here’s an article I just found about it, as well.
Every American deserves to have their voice heard by their vote–and this will only help Californians to realize that their vote matters.
Incredibly Weird Dream…
Last night, I had one of the strangest and most random dreams that I have had in awhile.
I dreamt that I was at a small gathering of singers, and we were taking turns singing one on one with (a younger, unmarried) Michael W. Smith (SO random!) while he played piano. After the weekend, we were all hanging out what seemed like movie theater-like seating, and he came and sat next to me. He gently placed his hand on my arm, and asked me if I’d be available much this summer (when he returned). He then asked me to go on a date with him, and I accepted.
I woke up thinking “What on earth was that?!” 🙂
WOW…I think that I’m a little tired, a little overwhelmed by my workload if I’m having dreams about dating Michael W. Smith–who is old enough to be my father and has kids my age–though, as I said, in the dream he was younger and single. Someday I’ll date and get married–and I hope that it is soon–but for now, I’m going to just live my life to the fullest and try to not be consumed with thoughts of getting married.
Thought that dream would make you smile! 🙂
APU Football…
I completely forgot to mention that APU’s football team is AWESOME this year! We played Univ. of Sioux Falls last week, and won 24-3. That school was previously undefeated! 🙂
This weekend we are traveling to Montana, and *when* we win, we will proceed to Nationals, in Tennessee.
Go APU!!
Unbelievable…
I just found this transcript from Fox News that is of GREAT interest.
A fifth grade teacher has been prohibited from teaching his class about the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, because it includes the phrase “endowed by their Creator”…
WHAT?!
That is absolutely ridiculous! I am SO sick of this “Separation of Church/State” thing being taken WAY too far. Without that amazing document, we’d probably still be British citizens. Without that document, we would not be the powerful, amazing country that we are today. And yet, because it has one mention to God, it has been banned…
Unbelieveable….comments welcome.
