My Red Neck Bible Study Group

I just wanted to say that I have been blessed with the most awesome group of people to study the Bible with…and to play good ol’ bluegrass with! Tonight we even had a WASHBOARD! How awesome is that?!

We had talked about it a few weeks ago, and we had laughed, though we admired the creativity of using an everyday item to create rhythm…so someone brought one from home, and we all laughed…it was fun…

We are studying Ecclesiastes, and it is awesome…learning so much…

Anyway, I love my Red Neck Bible Study group–and that does NOT make me a red neck!!

Michael is TOAST!!

Wow–so I got a bit startled this evening when I checked out Michael’s blog and read the most current post (from today)…to see why he is toast–read the blog post, then read my comment 🙂 Silly boy…he isn’t really toast, but he soon could be! LOL. It’s all good…

Also, I added my good friends Leslie and Stuart to my blog roll in the sidebar. Check out their blogs for interesting, humorous and exciting entries 🙂 They are awesome people!

Sunday…

Well, today wasn’t all that bad! Besides being annoyed to tears (not literally) by one of my youth kids at our weekly lunch after church, today has been rather pleasant. I finished quite a bit of work today, things that are due in the next two weeks…I still have a paper due Friday, one due Monday and one due the second day of finals (May 4)…but other than that, I am ready to pack up and move to my new apartment!

Michael finished his thesis today–and I read the entire thing (it took over an hour!)…very impressive…definitely something that he can–and should–be proud of! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

My audition went REALLY well yesterday–thanks to those who prayed for me! I will know in about two weeks, and I sincerely am not concerned about the outcome. Of course, I would be honored and totally excited if I received a coveted position; however, I know that God is in control of this situation, and if He has something else in store for me, I wouldn’t want the position, if that makes sense. May His will be done!

This week will be interesting…lots to get done…and now I have a motivating factor (that shall remain a secret, LOL)…so I hope to get TONS done this week!

Note the addition to my sidebar—not only the weather thing…two blogs that you should definitely check out: Todd and Paige. They are both awesome people (Paige is my future roommate!), and always have interesting things to say in their blogs. Check them out!

Not much else to say…20 days until SUMMER!!! 🙂

Humorous Poem

In the midst of my theology research, I came across this paraphrase of the 23rd Psalm, and I thought it was quite appropriate for most college students:

The Joy of Coffee

(A Psalm 23 Paraphrase)

Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.

It maketh me to wake in green pastures:

it leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.

It restoreth my buzz:

it leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,

I will fear no Equal ™: for thou art with me;

thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.

Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez:

thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.

Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the House of Starbuck’s for ever.

This weekend…

Ah yes…the weekend is here! I have a ton of homework to get done, and if I get it done I can relax more during the next week!

As far as plans go…i am going grocery shopping…that’s exciting, LOL…

Tomorrow I have my worship team audition/interview…allergies are doing better, so my voice should be at its best!!

I am having dinner with Aaron, from ASP, tomorrow night…that will be SO awesome! Another “Apartment One” friend, and my processing partner from ASP…i can’t wait to catch up with him and to hear about what God has been doing in his life lately!

You should check out Cameron’s blog, as he has some awesome poetry up there right now…and there are some new additions to the blog, such as a counter, a way to comment, and links to other blogs of worth. i can’t imagine who did all that 🙂 LOL. Glad to help out a friend!

Michael has a VERY exciting event on Monday–so watch his blog to find out what that is! I won’t spill the beans…but I am SOOO excited! Say a prayer for him!

Have a great evening!

EXCITING NEWS

Okay…so I am really excited! I have wanted to be on a chapel worship team since my first preview day experience at APU…which was over 4 years ago…and my dream might be coming true!!

Saturday, I have one of 30 interview/audition slots for being a vocalist next year…that means that there are 29 others…but there will probably be 5-8 spots open, I think…and I have had this on my heart for a long time…so pray for me!! 10:40am, Saturday I will be interviewing/auditioning for a spot on a chapel worship team…I am so excited!! WOO HOO!! 🙂

DONE!!

Just wanted to say that I finished my Civil War paper before midnight!! YAY! All I have to do is print it. I actually feel that it is a fairly decent paper after reading over it…but, this prof is infamous for NEVER giving As…it is SO hard to get over a B in his classes, which is good. He doesn’t buy into grade inflation…

Anyway, I am done! 🙂 With this, anyway…

Five more papers (1 is a take-home final)

1 more book to read…

12 days of class left!! YAY! Then I can delve into the ever-growing reading list I am creating for the summer…things that I WANT to read, and am not FORCED to read…it’s amazing what a difference that makes in my mind! 🙂 I get to read Plato, Aristotle and Xenophon (to prepare for Classical Political Thought in the Fall with Dr. Flannery)…I get to read Newbigin, MacLaren, and others…I get to begin my investigation into Christian Post-Modern Thought, to prepare for my Independent Study in Fall…Sigh…it will be wonderful! 🙂

Cell Phone Providers and Summer Plans

Well, something great came up today in regards to what I will do this summer–though I will still be in LA…my good friend Paige, over lunch, asked if I would like to live with her, off-campus, for the summer! How fun would that be?! I am praying about it, because it would be so awesome…I’d really feel like I was “on my own”, and i wouldn’t feel so “trapped” by being at APU for so long. I think it would be great! She is getting married at the end of July, and Leslie and I hope to go to their wedding in Colorado…ROAD TRIP!! 🙂

I have begun to consider switching cell phone providers…from AT&T to something else, probably Verizon. I have to break contract if I switch, which will be about $200, but I will save money in the long run. I am considering Verizon for a few reasons: One, there is better reception in the area (and in D.C. it works on the Metro…I have to be prepared for the future! LOL)…Two, I could get free in-network calling, which would be great because my parents (and Michael) have Verizon…that would ensure that I did not go over my minutes (which I do nearly every month)…and it would be a little cheaper for the same plan that I have now on Verizon…so in the long run, it would save me money……but more importantly, it would allow Michael and I to talk anytime without worrying about using up minutes 🙂 Honestly, that is a huge incentive…

Thoughts about Verizon? I’d welcome any comments about Verizon…especially from people who currently use it. I will make the switch this summer, some time…possibly.

Anyway, worship team tonight…looking forward to that, because I haven’t worshipped with these people for a couple of weeks now. Good times!

Must finish this Civil War paper tonight…it is not going too well, because it is so complicated! I am writing about how the Battle of Chickamauga Creek decreased the overall morale of the Union troops to such a great degree that by the time the Battle of Missionary Ridge came about, they wanted revenge, which in turn gave them the courage to capture the mountain unexpectedly. Yeah…I am on page 5, and I haven’t even come to the capture of the mountain yet! Oh well…I have a few hours tonight to finish!

Have a good evening!
