Newt for President?

Wow–saw this article today and am a bit surprised! It seems that my former boss is open to possibly running for President in 2008! That would be great! I know that many people do not care for the former speaker, but I admire and respect this man. After spending time with him and his staff, getting to know him better, I grew to respect the wisdom and knowledge this man possesses.

2008 will prove to be interesting, no doubt. But, for now, let’s just enjoy 2005.

Beautitul Poem by Logan’s Sister…

I was talking to one of Logan’s sisters today online, and this was in her profile. I wanted to share it with you all, since you know about this tragedy. I will see her in less than two weeks, and I am looking forward to it. This poem is simple, but it is from her heart.

~no words can be spoken..

I miss you, miss you so bad

I don’t forget you, oh it’s so sad

I hope you can hear me

I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away

Was the day I found it won’t be the same

Ooooh

I didn’t get around to kiss you

Goodbye on the hand

I wish that I could see you again

I know that I can’t

Ooooh

I had my wake up

Won’t you wake up

I keep asking why

And I can’t take it

It wasn’t fake

It happened, you passed by

Now your gone, now your gone

There you go, there you go

Somewhere I can’t bring you back

Now your gone, now your gone

There you go, there you go,

Somewhere your not coming back

Hmmm…

It’s been a quiet two days since I’ve been back at APU…I’ve really enjoyed just having time to think, time to relax, time to get settled in before the craziness begins. It’s been raining SO much–they say that Los Angeles has had more rain in the past 14 days than it has in an entire year. Amazing.

There’s been so much to think about lately…my upcoming trip to the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania…recent conversations that brought peace to my heart…the semester ahead of me, which will be insanely busy…all the blessings that I have received…

I found out today that my senior thesis will be due on April 28th–which was my “favorite” day of the year (and the date on which I wanted to get married) until I found out that it is also Saddam Hussein’s birthday. That was the end of that!

I also found out today that I will not be graduating with honors. Once again, just like high school, I am so close to graduating with honors! But, not close enough. I must remember that I know that I have done well, and that it is only one grade (from a junior college class taken during high school) that is preventing me from this. Sigh…it doesn’t really matter anyway, does it?

Like many people, I have some goals for this semester, and I pray that I have the strength and endurance to reach these goals. Besides the typical goals that I share with people–lose the weight I gained last semester from stress, excercise more, etc.–I also have spiritual and relational goals. I’ll elaborate upon those as the semester progresses…120 days…that’s all I have left until I enter “the real world…”

May your weekend be refreshing, and may you find time to relax and reflect upon all the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon you!

SNOW!

Well, Duane kept his promise (as he always does) and took me to see snow today, after we spent over 2 hours working on camp stuff (we are creating a camp that will precede youth camp, for those students who are serious about missions and other such things…a more intense experience, basically, before they go to regular youth camp).

We went up to Stirling City (yes, that is the correct spelling), where there were tons of snow. It was great. Duane, of course, pelted me with snowballs…I hit him once or twice…:)

I then drove back to APU, to beat the storm that is coming in tomorrow. The “Grapevine” (the mountain range between the Central Valley and Southern California) has been closed several times in the past week because of snow and ice, and another big storm is coming in tomorrow afternoon/evening that will bring more snow. There was SO MUCH SNOW on the side of the road tonight!

Anyway, I’m back at APU…exhausted…ready to sleep. Enjoy the pictures below. 🙂

22 years and counting…

Today was a great birthday, filled with non-stop events (not for my birthday!).

I spent the past three days in San Jose, at the annual Southern Baptist “State Youth Conference” (SYC). It was my 8th or 9th conference, this time as a counselor. Unfortunately, my youth group from Glendora was unable to make it up to the conference because of mudslides and snow that closed the roads out of Los Angeles. So, I stayed with my best-friend Duane’s youth group and hung out with them. Jeremy Camp led worship, and it was an awesome experience, as always.

Pictures below.

I’m so exhausted, I really don’t know how I’m even still awake! We drove 3.5 hours today, stopped at the Jelly Belly store in Vacaville, then headed home. My mom made one of my favorite meals for my birthday dinner, and it was great. 🙂

I just can’t believe that I’m 22 years old! It doesn’t seem possible! May this new year be just as wonderful as 2004, and may I continue to grow in my walk with the Lord and in my growth as a person.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
