A few things…

This video is SO funny…it’s just ridiculous, but there are several life-lessons you could use this to teach…

Praise the Lord! Los Angeles received more rain last week (6.8 inches!!) than it did all of last year! Woo hoo! AND, more rain is coming. Thank you, Lord, for the rain…

Vermont never ceases to amaze me…why don’t they just become their own country if they’re so discontent? Now they are voting to arrest Pres. Bush and others if they ever set foot in Vermont…LOL…right. The best part is that they’d arrest them for war crimes…I kinda don’t think that states/towns can do that. 🙂 But, whatever. It’s Vermont 🙂

Life is still going well…we’ve made major progress on housing for New Orleans, and I’m getting more excited each day…

Oh, and I know it’s not Christmas yet, but check out this video of an awesome a capella group singing their version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”…and a bunch of other songs they throw in there…it’s 3.5 minutes–check it out!

Passion…

dsc_2245.jpg

There are truly no words to describe the two days that I just spent at the Passion Conference…no words…the Lord is moving in a MIGHTY way in this generation, and in my own life…and I can truly say that I will never be the same…what a powerful weekend…

“Passion” is not just about worship–it’s about uniting worship and justice…so they gave us the opportunity to “Do Something Now”–and we had three challenges. One was to give towards the Passion World Tour which will happen this year. I hate to call it a “tour” because that makes it sound like it’s a concert. It’s SO not. Anyway, our “sister city” is Jakarta, and we gave $38,000.00 to help bring the name of Jesus to Jakarta! That’s SO amazing!

Another organization we gave to was the Blood Water Mission, which drills fresh, clean water wells in Africa that will last for the life of the village. It only takes $3,000 to do that…at the last annoucement they gave, we had given enough money to drill 16 wells!! PRAISE GOD!

The third project was for each of us to bring towels and socks to give to the homeless shelters in Los Angeles…I can’t remember how many of those we brought, but it was a ton!

It was amazing…and that’s all that I will say for now…but I would highly recommend buying the CD when it comes out on Feb. 5th…AMAZING new songs…powerful songs of worship to our King…

“You’re the God of this city, You’re the King of these people, You’re the Lord of this nation…You’re the light in this darkness…There is no one like our God…Greater things have yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city…”

dsc_2233.jpg

“Heal my heart and make it clean, open up my eyes to the things unseen, and show me how to love like you have loved me…Break my heart for what breaks yours, everything I am for your Kingdom’s cause, as I walk from earth into eternity…”

Wow…Amen…

How to get rid of mold…

Just when you thought the Bible couldn’t surprise you anymore…it tells you what to do about mold/mildew

I found this tonight when researching black/purple mold, because we have some in our bathroom…it’s great. LOL! At least the Bible tells us what to do about it!

Thoughts on the Happenings of Today…

I love politics…it’s part of who I am…and today, two very interesting things happened (of note)…

First, DrudgeReport was FILLED with headlines today about the negative campaigns that Hillary and Barack are running right now…Hillary and Barack are absolutely going after eachother, and it’s making me nervous…not because either of them are my candidate of choice–but because I’m afraid that this is only going to increase the voter apathy in the U.S….Voter apathy is something that I spent a lot of time writing about/researching in college, and it’s something I closely monitor when I read the news…And one of the top reasons that people don’t vote, don’t pay attention to politics is because of the politicians. Hillary and Barack (and Bill–what the heck is he doing? Who’s really running for President?! But that’s a totally different soap box…) are being the type of politician that make Americans stay home…

It has nothing to do with their party affiliation–if two Republicans were doing this I’d be just as mad. It’s dumb! I am increasingly opposed to partisan politics (though I understand that it’s inevitable, just like denominations in Christianity), precisely because of this ridiculous fighting, slandering, etc. I hate that often a bill won’t be passed just because it’s from the other party.

I feel like I can say all this because I used to be incredibly partisan–and I still am to some extent, but I also realize that it’s really dumb to not look at the merit of a bill just because it’s from the other party.

Anyway, so Hillbilly and Obama aren’t making good moves right now, I don’t think, because I fear it’s going to make people even more wary of politics…

The other thing that caught my eye was this article about Saddam and his WMDs. Apparently, Saddam lied about having them because he was afraid of Iran attacking Iraq. To me, that is completely legitimate, and I can’t blame the guy. The guy who interrogated him spent seven months with him, and really was able to get Saddam to open up. I was also amazed that he didn’t really think that the United States would jump in–he said they had survived the attacks before, so they could survive them again. Anyway, it was a fascinating thing, because it also may mean that Bush didn’t necessarily deceive us by saying they had them: Saddam went to great lengths to make the world believe they were.

Interesting things…

On a personal note, God is already really challenging me to trust Him completely, and that goes along with my desire to be “uncomfortable” this year. But, I know that He is going to take care of me–of that I am completely sure. But, it is a challenge, and I can’t wait to see how He works things out!

And it’s still raining…it actually snowed about seven miles west of my house this morning! Crazy!

Passion this weekend…I’m stoked. I’ll post when I get back…have a great weekend!

Rainy Day…

Well, I’m still learning how to use WordPress–but it’s really fun so far!

The Lord is doing some amazing things in my life right now…last weekend’s missions conference was incredible…this weekend is the “Passion” conference…and it’s raining–which I LOVE…

My theme for the year is “Be Uncomfortable”–which I know sounds SO pleasant. 🙂 I want to be challenged, I want to grow…and I know that taking risks and being “uncomfortable” can facilitate such amazing growth! So, my prayer is that the Lord would use this year to strengthen me, challenge me, refresh me, and to encourage me to take risks and GROW…

…and this new blog was part of taking a risk…

I have been revisiting posts from years past, and I stumbled across this one today…and I was so blessed by the memory of God’s provision! I used to blog all the time…and I want to do so again…

I love the rain…and I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed dry, sunny Southern California with so much rain lately…

Thank you for reading, and for joining me on this journey!

Fresh Start…

I decided that I wanted a fresh start, a new place to post…so we’ll see how this goes. I didn’t want to leave Blogger (because I LOVE Google), but I needed to be able to “hide out” for awhile, so to speak…

 So, here we are. 🙂

Lesa’s Guide to the California Primary Election…

Part I: Propositions…

As many of you have asked me for voting advice for February 5th, I thought I’d provide some information.

As always, we have several Propositions on the ballot this time around, and here’s what one of my political heroes, Senator Tom McClintock, has to say about them:

Prop. 91 — Transportation Funding Protection: YES!
“This measure flatly prohibits Sacramento from raiding our highway taxes to paper over their budget deficits. When a watered-down version of Prop. 91 was adopted by the legislature, its sponsors dropped this measure after it qualified. Nevertheless, if you want to genuinely protect our transportation taxes from being raided, Prop 91 is the Real McCoy.”

Prop. 92 — Guaranteed Funding for Community Colleges: NO!
“This can best be described as a Prop. 98 for community colleges – guaranteeing them a growing level of funding from the state’s tax revenues regardless of their actual attendance, their performance or the state’s fiscal condition and priorities. If you like straight-jackets, you’ll love Prop. 92.”

Prop. 93 — Term Limits: NEUTRAL.
“Current term limits are a maximum of 14 years in the legislature: six in the Assembly and eight in the Senate – which is why you see so much office-hopping. Prop. 93 reduces the maximum to 12 years in the legislature, but allows them to be served in the same house. Since I’ve only served eight years in the Senate, Prop. 93 would give me one final term; if it fails I must retire this year. Because I have a conflict of interest, I’m staying out if it.”

Propositions 94-97 –Indian Gaming Compacts: YES!
“These propositions ratify the compacts that allow four tribes to expand their casinos. I’m not a gambler, but it’s none of government’s business how people spend their money. I’m tired of government restrictions on enterprise, and I’m tired of government telling us what we can and can’t do. And our economy desperately needs the new jobs and investment.”

Because Tom is someone I highly respect, and because we agree on these issues (and most issues) I figured I’d just post what he had to say. 🙂

Part II: Candidates

As for the presidential part of the primary…I am going to vote for Fred Thompson…I’m not really enamored with any of the candidates, but I see a great potential in Fred…to read about Tom McClintock’s view on Fred, click here. Tom is serving as Fred’s California chairman.

To see where Fred stands on the issues, click here.

My endorsement for the presidential nomination only applies to those who are registered Republicans, as you can only vote within your registered party in the primaries. If you are not a Republican, I have one recommendation: NO HILLARY. 🙂

Hopefully that helps you, for now…if you have additional questions, please ask! 🙂

Another Reason to LEAVE California…

I was recently reminded of this bill signed by Governor Arnold…and I am just trying to remain calm. I cannot believe that he (or anyone) would sign such a piece of crap into law! I just don’t understand why it’s okay for reverse discrimination to occur, but we can’t have anything that might possibly offend someone.

Read the article to see what I’m talking about…I’m kinda frustrated. 🙂
