What is “best” for your party may not be what’s best for your country

Sometimes what is “best” for your party is not what is “best” for your country.

Sometimes, we must realize that we are wrong and choose to put principle over party.

Integrity over party.

The Constitution over party.

How can you know what is best?

History.

Data.

Expert guidance.

Look at the underlying motivations held by those who are promoting certain policies – does it benefit them personally? Or does it make our country a better place for ALL?

Evaluating each idea on its own merit is essential for the health of any democracy.

Being willing to set aside party politics and partisanship to look at what is truly best for all is the higher good we should be seeking.

What is it that your party is looking for? Power? Revenge? Or is it truly seeking to empower each and every citizen with the ability to pursue life, liberty, and happiness?

Not just the wealthy, but all.

What is best for the many, not the few.

This is why it is essential to put principle over party. Sometimes what is best for your party is not what is best for the country

I know this takes commitment and a willingness to embrace humility, and neither of those things are easy, but it is imperative that we come to terms with the fact that the other side is not our enemy. We are all on the same team, this is not the Super Bowl. This is the United States of America, and what happens here impacts the world.

We are intentionally being divided by those who are profiting off of our division and outrage.

When you feel offended by something, take the time to ask yourself some questions. Have you allowed your party to become your identity? Are you pridefully holding onto that identity instead of being willing to listen and learn from those who see differently from you?

Partisanship is dangerous. I’ve been saying this for so long now, and, unfortunately, it’s being proven to be correct daily. It’s up to us to end extreme partisanship, and I hope you’ll join me.
